Level of English Courses
Before beginning a course, we take a placement test in order to assign the student to the appropiate course. We offer English courses from elementary to advanced. For that reason, we use the CEFR.
What is the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages?
The Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR) is a standard criteria used to measure the level of written and oral comprehesion of learners of foreign languages and it establishes a scale of six levels of reference for the organization of foreign languages. These levels are A1, A2, B1, B2, C1 and C2.
What is a student able to do at each level?
Level A1
Students can understand and use oral and written everyday expressions. They can communicate effectively using basic and grammar and vocabulary. They can introduce themselves, ask and give personal information and can communicate in a basic way.
Level A2
Students can understand frequently used phrases and expressions. They can communicate in routine tasks and describe in simple terms aspects of his background, future and their environment.
Level B1
Students can understand the main points of clear texts on familiar topicas about work, study or leisure. They can deal with most situations likely to arise while travelling. They can produce simple and coherent text. They can describe experiences, events, hopes and ambitions and briefly give reasons and explanations for their opinions and plans.
Level B2
Students have a wide domain of the language. They can understand the main ideas of complex texts. They can interact with native speakers fluently and naturally. They can produce clear texts about different topicas and and explain a viewpoint.
Level C1
Students can understand the principal and implicit ideas of different kinds of texts with certain demand. They know how to express themselves without any trouble. They can communicate fluently and spontaneously in social, academic and professional environments. They can produce clear and well-structured texts about complex on complex topics, showing good use of coherence and cohesive devices.
Level C2
Students have a vast linguistic competence and can understand with ease virtually everything heard or read. They can express themselves fluently and precisely, differentiating finer shades of meaning even in the most complex situations.
