International exams of French

The diplomas DELF and DALF are French exams with international recognition. Both DELF (Diplôme d’Études en Langue Française) and DALF (Diplôme Approfondi de Langue Française) assess and certify the linguistic competences in reading, writing, speaking and listening in real life. The difference lies in the fact that DALF certifies an advanced competence of the language.

Both diplomas are based on CEFR (Common European Framework of Reference for Languages) and are granted by the Ministry of National Education in France with international recognition.

DELF is divided in four levels corresponding to the CEFR: DELF A1, DELF A2, DELF B1, DELF B2. DALF is divided into two levels: DALF C1 y DALF C2.

 

DELF A1

It assesses the initial competences of the student in daily life situations. It is the most elemental level.

DELF A2

Although it is also an elemental level, the student has more domain in real life situations.

DELF B1

The passage from A2 to B1 is a great leap as the student is more independent. It may keep a conversation, write correctly and speak fluently in several situations.

 DELF B2

The student's competence allows him to express his point of view view, have a debate or express an idea.

 

DALF C1

It encompasses an advanced level. The student may speak correctly in all kind of situations not only in an ordinary life but also in an academic environment in French. He has a wide lexis and a clear discourse.

DALF C2

It represents a proficiency level. The linguistc competence is characterized by the fluency, accuracy and correction in all environments. The student may also understand advanced texts and different accents.
